REP Season
Today our 2017 REP Season is coming to a close with the final performance of Frantic Assembly’s Othello! After three months, and three shows in the West End the REP Company will today be taking their final bow on the stage of the Ambassadors Theatre, before a final evaluation week with NYT starting next week.
This year’s REP Season, featuring Frantic Assembly’s Othello, Evan Placey’s Jekyll and Hyde and Hal Coarse’s Mrs Dalloway has been a huge success and we’ve loved having such great audiences supporting our shows this year.

Free workshop in Birmingham
NYT is coming to Birmingham in January, and we’re offering you the chance to get a free taster of what we’re all about next weekend.
Ahead of our new courses and auditions starting in Birmingham from January, we’re running a free introductory workshop at the Old REP Theatre. Led by NYT associate and actor Lauren O'Rourke (TV Credits include: White Gold, The Inbetweeners, Drifters), this workshop will explore National Youth Theatre’s approach to ensemble theatre making, and introduce you to our new team of associates who will be running regular classes at the theatre early next year. It will give you the opportunity to learn more about the organisation and how you can get involved.
Final places! Start Up Saturdays in London
11-14 and can’t wait to get involved in NYT? There are a limited number of places left on our Start Up Saturdays course in London, starting in January. We’re also running the course in Birmingham from January, and in Manchester from September.
Start Up Saturdays offers young people age 11-14 the opportunity to engage with the NYT and develop their early interests in performance before auditioning to become a member of the company. Participants will explore the NYT’s approach to ensemble theatre making through story telling, devising, music, dance, characters and chorus.
#NoGreyArea Town Hall Meeting
In response to recent industry-wide action to tackle unacceptable behaviour relating to abuses of power in the theatre industry and beyond, on Sunday 10 December we will be holding a Town Hall Meeting for National Youth Theatre members.

The Host by Nessah Muthy nominated for Writers' Guild Award
The Host by Nessah Muthy, which was produced by the National Youth Theatre at the Yard in east London is nominated for best play for young audiences at the Writers' Guild Awards in January 2018. It is shortlisted alongside How to Be a Kid by Sarah McDonald-Hughes and Mike Kenny’s The Messenger.
The Writers’ Guild awards take place on January 15, 2018 in London! We’ll keep our fingers crossed that it’s success for The Host on the night!

NYT at the Evening Standard Awards
Talking of awards, last week NYT members headed down to the Evening Standard Theatre awards to watch the award ceremony, and see the likes of Andrew Garfield and Glenda Jackson take home the top prizes.

Alumni News
Congrats to NYT Alumna Karen Fishwick who has just been announced as Juliet, in the RSC’s 2018 Romeo and Juliet. It’ll be her RSC debut!
Good luck to the team over at Callisto: A Queer Epic, at the Arcola Theatre for their run which started this week. The show is directed by Thomas Bailey, recipient of the 2017 Bryan Forbes Bursary from NYT.
Pecs, at Soho Theatre, featuring a number of recent NYT Alumni has just opened.
Over at Playing Up, students completed their R&D for final production this year with writer, Mark Weinman. There will be further R&D in the new year, before rehearsals start for the company!
