Jez Davess-Humphrey
Katie Hutchings
Jez recently completed 9-month of training with the National Youth Theatre's Rep Company in 2023. He performed in Much Ado (as Claudio), Gone Too Far (as a Police Officer), and Bakkhai (Guard).
Post-NYT Rep, Jez joined Collingwood Learning, touring Essex with their road safety play 'Dead End.' Currently, he is on tour with Box Clever Theatre company, portraying the ) role of Macbeth.
Prior to his NYT journey, Jez pursued a BA in Acting for Stage and Media at Kingston College. His passion for storytelling led him to establish Eye Opening Productions, his own theatre company. Through this venture, Jez directed and toured original shows like 'The Olympians' and 'Love to Bits' across prestigious venues such as Barons Court Theatre, Kings Head, and Tara Arts.
Katie joined the NYT family, after three years of applications, in the summer of 2021. After completing the 3 week senior course in Northampton, she trained on NYTs “stepping up” - a three month training programme in creative leadership. After this she assisted creating NYTs “emerge” programme & assisted on the next cohort of stepping up. She is very passionate about making the arts accessible for all. Over summer, she assisted on the junior & senior intake courses (where she met Jez!) with fantastic directors who taught her a lot. She is really excited to make this next step from assistant to co-director!
Outside of NYT, she has just started training on the BA acting programme at LAMDA. Prior to this , she worked for the theatre company Punchdrunk, learning the logistics of running a theatre company on an epic-scale.
She is interested in play within acting and offering bold choices. It’s all about having fun- that’s why it’s called a play!!! She is also interested in creative wellbeing and developing confidence through creativity. Can’t wait to work with you all!
