This Week at NYT | Playing Up's first sharing, and Creative Leadership applications open!

Posted 29 Jul 2023 by Joe Duggan

Welcome to your weekly NYT news round up!

Playing Up Sharing

This week our Playing Up Company had their first sharing, in front of an audience of Playing Up Alumni, NYT staff, associates and supporters. Our 2017/18 Playing Up company have been training with us since October, and on Wednesday presented a piece focusing on what they have learnt so far about movement, naturalism, and improvisation.

Take a look at these snaps from Helen Murray.

Last Chance | Masterclasses

Looking for something to do with your February half-term? Snap up one of the final few spaces on our half-term masterclasses.

There is still some limited availability on our Audition Technique, and our Performing Shakespeare six-day courses, open to everyone aged 15-25, no audition required.

Our masterclasses are perfect if you’re preparing for drama school auditions, an NYT audition, of if you just want to brush up your skills in audition technique, Shakespeare, or classical performance!

Creative Leadership | Applications now open!

Creative Leadership roles offer a fantastic opportunity for current NYT Members aged 18-25 interested in theatre training, drama facilitation and teaching to develop their skills in a hands-on exciting environment.

Through taking part in our Creative Leadership Training weekend, successful applicants will learn and develop teaching, directing and facilitation techniques. Members can also apply for one of the Member Facilitation Roles on our summer course 2018!

This year we are looking to fill the following roles:
- Intake Acting Course Assistants for Junior and Senior Courses
- Epic Stages Course Assistants
- Backstage Course Assistants (Applications not yet open)
- Company Co-ordinators for Intake Acting and Epic Stages
- Company Manager for Intake Acting and Epic Stages
- Masterclass Course Assistants

Facebook Live | Meet NYT’s producer Brian

What is the role of a producer and what kind of qualities do you need to become one?

Watch our latest Facebook LIVE session and meet the NYT's very own producer Brian Zeilinger.

Whether you are based outside of the UK and want to know more about our international work, or you want to find out more about the British theatre scene, from Broadway to the West End, Brian has a wealth of experience!

My NYT Audition Competition

Whether you’ve already had your NYT intake Audition or Interview this year, or yours is still to come, we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for people auditioning for NYT in 2018 to share their experience with us, by filming a ‘My NYT Audition’ video. We’ll select the best videos, and showcase them in a playlist on the National Youth Theatre You Tube page as well as sharing them on our social media!
