With our Spring Season at Southwark Playhouse just a few weeks away, it’s all go at NYT this week!


The Fall

Rehearsals have begun for James Fritz’s The Fall, directed by Matt Harrison at Southwark Playhouse. Last week we announced the cast for the production on our Instagram, which you should follow for more updates from the rehearsal room!

Win the chance to perform on a West End Stage!

This week, to celebrate The Fall being just a few weeks away, we launched our brand new The Fall Duologue Competition – offering a money can’t buy prize of performing on a West End stage.

The competition is open to anyone and everyone aged 14 – 26. Whether you’ve been a NYT member for years, or if this is the first time you’ve ever heard of us - get involved!

All you need to do partner up with a friend, and devise and film a performance of a duologue from The Fall. For more details and to apply head here!


Backstage Summer Courses

There’s still time to apply to spend your summer with NYT! Applications are still open for our Backstage Summer Courses which offer successful applicants a chance to spend three weeks training with NYT industry professionals, and to specialise in one of five disciplines: stage management, costume, lighting, sound, or scenic construction.

If you’re interested in finding out more about what it takes to put a show together, or learning a new skill get involved in one of our backstage interview days!


Last chance to apply – Bryan Forbes Bursary

We're looking for an 18-30 year old emerging director to be our Bryan Forbes Assistant Director for 2018.

You'll train alongside our REP Company and be supported by a £10,000 bursary! This opportunity is now open to anyone - not just NYT Members or alumni!

Want to get involved in NYT this summer? We have a whole host of Masterclasses on offer, which are now available to book. Brush up your acting for screen skills in our six-day Acting for Screen Masterclasses in London, Milton Keynes, Manchester and Guildford this summer. Or join our Performing Shakespeare of Audition Technique masterclasses, which will be going on sale in the next couple of weeks.

Looking for something new? We’ve just launched a brand new Digital Storytelling short course, perfect for anyone interested in exploring how digital technology can be used as an integral part of theatrical storytelling.

Playing Up

Last week our Playing Up Company went on tour, visiting schools across Newham, Lewisham and Waltham Forest performing Snakes and Ladders by Rebecca Manley. The tour was supported by the L&Q foundation, and explored young people’s experiences of housing and homelessness.

Want to be a part of our 2018/19 Playing Up Company? Applications are still open to join this unique free training course, offering young people aged 19 - 24 who are not in Education Employment or Training the opportunity to gain an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Theatre Arts.


DNA

Next week rehearsals will be kicking off for Dennis Kelly’s DNA, directed by Sean Hollands. The production is almost sold out, so if you want to catch our cast in action make sure to head over to Southwark Playhouse’s website to book!
