This week at NYT we're in Bradford, rehearsal continue in London for our Playing Up final sharing and more.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist at the Bradford Literature Festival

This weekend we’ll be performing Mohsin Hamid’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist, adapted by Stephanie Street and directed by Prasanna Puwanarajah at Bradford Literature Festival. Tickets are selling fast and you can get yours and check out everything else going on at the Festival here:

NYT National

If you’re not near Bradford, in the next 12 months we’re also going to be either developing work with our members, offering free workshops or performing in Skelmersdale near Wigan, Kings Lynn in north Norfolk, Edinburgh, Sheffield and Birmingham.

The NYT REP Company
This week our NYT REP Company have been working with director Natasha Nixon on working with text and the company will be presenting a series of short scenes to an invited audiences of supporters and industry at our Holloway Road rehearsal rooms this afternoon. We’re very close to announcing our 2018 NYT REP Season, which will take place in London this autumn and is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet. Peter Clayton Memorial

Following last week’s very sad news of the death of NYT Trustee and Development Board Chair Peter Clayton we have been informed that a memorial will be taking place at the Criterion Theatre in London’s West End at 12 noon on Monday 8 October. More details to follow.

Alumni News

It was announced this week that Nine Night starring alumna Rebekah Murrell (who played the lead in our recent production of The Host) and directed by NYT Jekyll and Hyde director Roy Alexander Weise will transfer to Trafalgar Studios later this year. Read more here:

We loved watching Seraphina Beh in Leave Taking at the Bush Theatre this week. Seraphina was a member of our free flagship social inclusion course Playing Up before successfully auditioning for our free REP Company. In the REP she won critical acclaim for her lead performance in Stephen Kelman’s Pigeon English, adapted for stage by Gbolahan Obisesan. This is Seraphina’s second appearance at The Bush and her other professional credits include a stint in BBC One’s Eastenders. Read the Guardian’s four star review here:
