Casting / REP Auditions 2022

Posted 15 Jul 2023 by Joe Duggan

Interested in being part of one of our performance opportunities in 2022? You will need to take part in our annual casting auditions!

BOOKING CLOSES: 11th January - 5pm

This year, casting auditions will be in self-tape form. This method is being used more and more in the industry and therefore NYT feel it is important to make it a big part of the Casting Audition process. We opened bookings for annual casting auditions in October/November 2021 (thank you to all those who have already submitted self-tapes!) but we are reopening this January for a limited time for those who missed out.

Please register to submit your self-tape by booking onto a batch using one of the links below (it doesn’t matter which batch you book!) Also, please find all the information you need in order to book, record and submit your self-tape below.

BOOKING HAS NOW CLOSED

BATCH 45 (SOLD OUT)

BATCH 46 (SOLD OUT)

More information on how to book, what to include in your tape, how to record and how to upload can be found in the Casting Audition Pack and below:

IMPORTANT DATES – PLEASE NOTE THESE:

Bookings will close on 11th January at 5pm.

You will receive an upload link to submit your tape on 12th January via email. (If you don’t have your upload link by midday on 13th Jan, please email casting@nyt.org.uk with your name, and the batch number you booked)

You then need to submit your tape using your link by the 17th January 2pm, AT THE VERY LATEST!

You will not be able to submit after this date as Auditioner’s are booked to review tapes only submitted on or before the deadline.

What your first-round Casting Audition will involve:

Registering for/booking your Self-Tape:

To book:

Make sure your Membership is Active: To book you will need to have activated your Company Membership. This means you should have paid for your annual membership, or successfully applied for a bursary.

Register for your self-tape above!

Once you have booked, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive this, please let me know straight away so we can resolve this.

Recording your Casting Audition Self-Tape:

This self-tape should be maximum 5/6 minutes in total, and should consist of:

Performance of a speech (no more than two minutes). This can be a contemporary OR classical piece.

Showcase a special talent/skill you may have (60 seconds). This could be, but is not limited to – playing an instrument, spoken word, dancing, etc. If you feel you do not have a special talent or skill you would like to show us, you could speak for a minute about something you are passionate about!

Answer these questions

Uploading/submitting your Self-Tape:

· Use the link that will be emailed to you on the 12th January to upload your self-tape. Please refer to guide in the Casting Audition Pack attached to this email for all the information you need.

· Most importantly CHECK your video works and can be opened by someone else before you submit it to us.

If you do not book one of the batches above you will not receive a link and you cannot submit a self-tape. Please ensure you do this before the11th January deadline.

Accessibility Notice

If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made in order for you to take part in this activity please do get in touch with casting@nyt.org.uk ahead of your casting date. We are here to help!

Recalls

Please note: Casting for NYT productions is a rolling process, and you might be recalled for a project at any point in the year. There is no 'results day' for Castings so please be aware you won’t receive an ‘unsuccessful’ email.

What you need to do now...

Update Your Online Profile

Please update your online casting profile on your account by 12 January 2022.

Ensure this includes a recent headshot/photo as well as any relevant skills or recent experience. Your Auditioner will have access to these, so please make sure they are up to date before then!

Finally, please remember there is no need to be nervous. We already know you're brilliant, that's why you're an NYT member, and these casting self-tapes are a fun opportunity to showcase your talent!

If you have any questions at all please email casting@nyt.org.uk
