Auditions at NYT
It’s all go at NYT at the moment with our intake auditions and casting auditions about to kick off, as well as some exciting external opportunities!
Intake Auditions might get underway next week, but there’s still time left to apply for an NYT Audition or Backstage Interview this year. From January to March we’re touring the UK without Auditions and Backstage Interview roadshow to meet undiscovered young talent to join our celebrated company of talented individuals. For our current members Casting Auditions begin on Monday offering our members the chance to audition for our performance opportunities in 2018. Including for our Spring Season at Southwark Playhouse which sees the return of The Fall and DNA to NYT.
Fancy something a bit different? Next weekend NYT will be hosting open auditions for the West End production of Tina - The Musical, which is also rehearsing at the NYT rehearsal rooms. Know someone who could play a young Tina Turner? Find out more here!
New Year with NYT
How did you spend your New Year’s Eve? We spent ours down at the Southbank Centre’s Vintage New Year’s Eve party – where our members performed throughout the evening and helped party goers ring in the New Year! Shout out to all the members who took part and to NYT Associate Anna Spearpoint who directed the evening’s performance.

Auditions Advice with NYT
This weekend, we welcome The Monobox to NYT to run an Audition Advice workshop with our current Company and Club Members ahead of our upcoming intake and casting auditions! The Monobox was founded by NYT Alumni Joan Iyiola and Polly Bennet after they met and worked together at NYT! Find out more!
#NoGreyArea Town Hall Meeting
We recently announced the new date for our Members’ Town Hall Meeting in response to #NoGreyArea. To sign up to the session on the 21st January, please head to the Members’ Board.
Acronymity
We have an ongoing commitment to the voices of our members. In summer 2017 NYT members of various genders and sexualities gathered to explore the evolving LGBTQ+ alphabet of identities with Team Angelica!
Across the twelve days of Christmas, we have been releasing a new film series developed from this R&D, and produced in collaboration with Team Angelica and Rikki Beadle-Blair.

The Host
There’s now less than a month until The Host opens at St James’s Church Piccadilly. Nessah Muthy’s critically acclaimed response to Brexit and the European refugee crisis, returns after a sell-out run at the Yard Theatre in the summer of 2017.
The Host will appear alongside artist Arabella Dorman’s installation piece Suspended at St James’s Piccadilly.

Start Up Saturdays
Our new Start Up Saturdays term begins next weekend, in both London and in Birmingham! Start-Up Saturdays is a course for 11-14 year olds, and encourages young people to put their passion for performance and idea’s into action. Across a ten-week term, participants explore storytelling, devising theatre, movement, music and character, before sharing their work in the final week.

Alumni and Member News
Eight NYT Alumni have been named on The Stage 100 2018 of Theatre’s most influential: Robert Hastie, Matthew Warchus, Jeremy Herrin of Headlong, writer Jack Thorne, director Michael Grandage, incoming Artistic Director of The Globe Michelle Terry, Purni Morell of Unicorn Theatre, London and Bill Kenwright.
Congratulations to everyone on the list, especially our alumni and NYT Friends: James Graham, playwright, Martin Green, Hull City of Culture and lighting designer Paule Constable.
This week Shakespeare’s Globe announced their 2018 season, the first under incoming Artistic Director and NYT Alumna Michelle Terry!
As well as Terry, The Globe Ensemble also includes NYT Alumni Shubham Saraf, and Tanika Yearwood. Alumnus Brendan O'Hea will direct a series of three plays – The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew and Twelfth Night – which will be toured by The Globe. Alumnus Barrie Rutter, who will direct and appear in the already announced The Captive Queen at the Sam Wanamaker, will also direct a new production of The Two Noble Kinsmen.
Lady Windermere's Fan opens next week with NYT Vintage Sam Spiro at The Vaudeville Theatre. The production is directed by NYT Associate Kathy Burke, and associate directed by Matt Harrison.
