Paul Roseby OBE
Last Friday it was announced that our Artistic Director and Chief Executive Paul Roseby has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in recognition of his services to drama and young people in 15 years at the helm of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain

Wherever I Lay My Head
Our Holloway Road rehearsal rooms have been full this week with training for our REP Company and rehearsals for our Playing Up Company. Joining them this week have been the cast of Wherever I Lay My Head by Jamila Gavin, directed by NYT Associate Andy Whyment.
The piece explores unaccompanied migrants and the themes of restlessness and sleeplessness and will be staged at City Hall on Tuesday 19 June.

Tortoise
Our Playing Up Company have just finished their first week of rehearsals for their end of year production at the Bunker Theatre. Tortoise, by Mark Weinman and directed by Matt Harrison, kicks off from the 11 July.
Next week they head over to the Bunker Theatre to continue rehearsals.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist
Tickets are now on sale for our upcoming runs of Mohsin Hamid’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist, adapted for the stage by Stephanie Street at the Bradford Literature Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. Directed by Prasanna Puwanarajah, the production sees the return of some of the cast from the first two runs as well as some new faces.

The Fall Duologue Competition
This week we announced the winners of our Duologue Competition surrounding The Fall! We put out an open call for 14-26 year olds to stage and film a scene from James Fritz’s script, and to put their own spin on the piece. The competition was judged by our Artistic Director and CEO Paul Roseby, and the winners of the competition will perform an extract from The Fall with NYT on a West End stage later this year, and also will receive an overnight stay in a London hotel.

REP Company
It’s already week four for our REP Company, who this week have been working with director Brendan O’Hea, Andy Whyment , Anne McNulty and John Haidar, Associate at Headlong. They also had a Q+A session with top casting directors Wendy Spon Anne McNulty Sue Needleman and Ruth O’Dowd and took a trip to NYT Associate Ned Bennett’s An Octoroon, currently playing at the National Theatre.
Summer Courses
There’s still plenty of time to get involved in our summer short courses in Acting for Screen, Performing Shakespeare, Audition Technique, Writing and Directing, Digital Storytelling and, for 11-14s our Start Up Summer course.
We’ve also just announced a brand new Start Up Saturdays course in South West London. Booking is now open for the 10 week course taking place at Tara Arts Theatre, Wimbledon starting in September.
