We're Recruiting - Playing Up Trainee Manager
National Youth Theatre are expanding our team with this new role within our Inclusion Programme. We’re looking for a Trainee Project Manager to join our team from September 2021- July 2023 on a fixed-term part time basis (3 days per week) to support the management, delivery and development of our flagship Playing Up Programme.
This dynamic new trainee initiative offers an individual the opportunity for the development of management and leadership skills within an award-winning participatory arts programme.
We’re looking for a confident and experienced coordinator at a relatively early career stage to step into a supported, facilitated Trainee Manager role. Ideally our candidates will have a track-record of drama/creative facilitation, relationship management and Programme or Project administration experience. The Trainee Manager will co-manage and tutor on our Level 3 Accredited course delivered in partnership with The JGA Group. The role will support young people, who are aged 19-25 years old and currently unemployed, to undertake an OCN Access to Higher Education Diploma in Theatre Arts.
The Playing Up Programme has been established for 13 years within NYT and places inclusion and inclusive practice at the heart of our creative community and actively removes barriers that might prevent young people participating in the arts Each year the Playing Up Company co-create a dynamic new production with leading professionals Writers, Directors and other Creative Associate roles at an exciting professional London venue. This year our Playing UP Company will stage the masters’s house at the company’s new Workshop Theatre, written by babirye bukilwa and directed by Chris Sonnex and babirye bukilwa. babirye's debut play …blackbird hour was shortlisted for the 2019 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting, made the finals of the 2020 Women’s Prize for Playwriting, and was shortlisted for the 2020 Alfred Fagon Award. Chris was Artistic Director of the Bunker Theatre when it was named Fringe Theatre of the Year by The Stage Newspaper in 2020.
Line managed by the Playing Up Manager and supported by the Associate Director and the broader NYT team, this role will be based at The National Youth Theatre in our newly redeveloped building at 443-445 Holloway Road, London, N7 6LW.
