#NoGreyArea Town Hall Meeting - New date

Posted 29 Jul 2023 by Joe Duggan

#NoGreyArea Town Hall Meeting

Following the postponement of this event in December owing to bad weather, this has now been rearranged to Sunday 21st January

In response to recent industry-wide action to tackle unacceptable behaviour relating to abuses of power in the theatre industry and beyond, on Sunday 21 January we will be holding a Town Hall Meeting for National Youth Theatre members.

Full details can be found on our Members' Board here or you can email info@nyt.org.uk to find out more.

The aim of the day will be to come up with a code of conduct that is specific to the National Youth Theatre’s work with young people, which we also hope, will be a useful resource for other youth theatres. The event will be led by our Associate Director Anna Niland and attended by our CEO and Artistic Director Paul Roseby and lead safeguarding trustee Dr Simon Stockill.

As with all NYT activity, the event will be run according to our robust safeguarding policy, which can be found on our website here, and any disclosures will be responded to in line with our policy.

Any National Youth Theatre Company Member can attend the event, which is free to attend. If you are planning to attend we’d appreciate you signing up to one of the below workshops in advance as there will be limited places. Alongside the below workshops they’ll be other spaces within the building offering creative opportunities to reflect on the current climate and carry on the conversation. There will also be opportunities to talk to NYT staff and safeguarding specialists separately.

Any logistical enquiries about the Town Hall Meeting on Sunday 21 January can be directed to info@nyt.org.uk.

Anyone with any safeguarding questions or concerns about the National Youth Theatre and their time with us can contact our lead safeguarding trustee Dr Simon Stockill directly on safeguarding@nyt.org.uk or Designated Safeguarding Officer Anna Niland on anna.niland@nyt.org.uk

You can contact trained NSPCC counsellors 24/7 on 0808 800 5000 or help@nspcc.org.uk
