We're delighted to announce Meghan Doyle as the fifth recipient of the Bryan Forbes Assistant Director Bursary!
Meghan is a theatre maker, performer and director – and former NYT member – from Newcastle upon Tyne. She is co-Director of The Letter Room theatre company and was the recipient of the 2017 RTYDS 3 month directors placement. Her credits include No Miracles Here (2018, The Letter Room, Co-Director), East is East (2017, Northern Stage/Nottingham Playhouse, Assistant Director), James and the Giant Peach (2016, Northern Stage, Assistant Director), Five Feet in Front: The Ballad of Little Johnnie Wylo (2015, The Letter Room, Co-Director), and Send More Paper (2014, Camisado Club, Assistant Director).
Meghan says
"As a working-class female director living in the North East, you can imagine that opportunities to work in theatre are scarce. And so it is without exaggeration, that this Bursary is life-changing for me.
This is a chance work with some of the top directors working in theatre at the moment, and be responsible for shaping some of the most exciting young talent in the country. This programme and your bursary feels like a catalyst for change, a platform to share voices that are not usually heard, and a chance to make ripples at the very top of our industry and I am beyond grateful to be chosen to be a part of this."
