This Week at NYT | Function, REP and our brand new course!

Posted 22 Jul 2023 by Joe Duggan

It's show time at NYT, with our workshop season and 2018 REP Season taking over

Function at the Criterion Theatre

This Monday saw the first ever workshop performance of Function by NYT REP Alumna Sophie Ellerby at the Criterion Theatre. Take a look at these production shots of the performance from NYT Member Alessandra Davison

REP Update

This week our REP Company have been back in rehearsals for their new gender-fluid abridgement of Macbeth by Moira Buffini, directed by Natasha Nixon.

The wonderful Isabel Adomakoh Young and Oseloka Obi from our 2018 REP Company were earlier this month shot as part of the Best of British Theatre feature which appears in this month’s Gay Times Mag, celebrating queer people of colour.

Next week rehearsals begin again for Consensual, by Evan Placey, directed by Pia Furtado and associate directed by Anna Niland. Join us on Friday for a free open rehearsal, giving you a sneak peek behind the scenes of rehearsals!

Lost Boys New Town

Next week we’re heading to Skelmersdale for the first workshop run of Lost Boys New Town by Luke Barnes, running 28-29 September at the Hope Theatre. Join us after the show on the Friday 28 September for a post show Q+A with the writer and director Zoe Lafferty.

Stepping Up

Following on from the success of our Playing Up programme, we're thrilled to announce Stepping Up! A new free accredited four month training programme for 19-24s who have not yet achieved a full level 2 qualification. If you know someone who hasn't achieved a 5 GCSEs A-C or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma let them know about the course!

Members’ Open Day

Last weekend at our Holloway Road rehearsal rooms we hosted an Open Day for our members. In the morning NYT Associate Bea Holland led a fantastic improvisation workshop, and in the afternoon the fantastic Rachel Horowitz ran a workshop for our backstage members. Take a look at some of the photos from the day below.
