Acting Membership Courses
Aged 14-25? Audition now for an Acting Membership Course to become a member of National Youth Theatre and unlock all of our opportunities.
Applications are open to become a National Youth Theatre Acting Member in 2024.
Every year we run membership courses around the UK in the summer, at our HQ on weekends, and online for young people who want to become members of the National Youth Theatre.
After your course you become a NYT member, giving you access to exclusive opportunities including castings for NYT and professional shows, free training with the NYT REP Company, creative leadership and facilitation training, free tickets, and much more.
We offer different membership courses depending on your age, where you're based, and whether you want to take part in the summer, on weekends, or online.
Types of Acting Courses
Summer Courses
Regional Summer Courses
Ages: 14-17 year olds
Format: 2 weeks full-time (Monday to Friday), 10am – 5pm

Price: £525
Full-day workshops focusing on performance and theatre-making skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, text work, devising and more. In the second week, you will work with your group and director to create a 15-minute piece that you will perform in a local theatre to an invited audience.
If you audition for one of these courses, you will be asked to give a first and second choice of location. Please note: no accommodation is provided by NYT.
Senior Course
Ages: 18-21 year olds
Format: 2.5 weeks, full-time (Monday to Saturday), 10am – 5.30pm
Location: Leeds
Dates: 5th - 21st August 2024
Price: £700
Full-day workshops focusing on performance and theatre-making skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, text work, devising and more. In the second and third weeks, you will work with your group and director to create a 15-minute piece that you will perform in a professional theatre to an invited audience.
Accommodation is available to book through NYT.
Epic Stages
Ages: 22-25 year olds
Format: 3 weeks, full-time (Monday to Saturday), 10am – 6pm
Location: Rose Bruford College, Sidcup
Dates: 30th July - 17th August 2024
Price: £760
On Epic Stages, each group works with either a theatre company or a director and writer, focusing on performance and theatre-making skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, text work, devising and more. Over the 3 weeks, you will work to create a 30-minute work-in-progress piece of theatre that you will perform to an invited audience.
A limited amount of accommodation is available to book through NYT.
Weekend Courses
Weekend Summer Course
Ages: 18-25 year olds
Format: 5 weekends, full days Saturday and Sunday, 10 sessions in total, 10am – 6pm
Location: National Youth Theatre, 443-445 Holloway Road
Dates: 3rd/4th, 10th/11th, 17th/18th, 24th/25th, 31st August, 1st September 2024

Junior Digital Course
Ages: 14-17 year olds
Format: 10 sessions on weekends between September and December, 10am – 1pm

Half-day workshops focusing on performance and theatre-making skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, text work, devising and more. In the final sessions, you will work with your group and director to create a 20-minute piece of digital theatre that you will perform to an invited audience.
Senior Digital Course
Ages: 18-25 year olds
Format: 10 sessions on weekends between September and December, 2pm – 5pm
Location: Zoom
Dates: 29th September, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th October, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th November, 7th December 2024
