#NYTStayCreative

To help support you stay creative, connected and supported during this uncertain time we’re launching a programme of online workshops, opportunities, free live-streams and weekly creative challenge from our Artistic Director Paul Roseby.

We've run workshops and Q&As with Rosamund Pike, James Graham, Joan Iyiola and Polly Bennet from Monobox, Luke Barnes and more. 

Over 5000 young people have taken part since the start of lockdown, reaching audiences of over 1.5 million,

WEEK EIGHT

Weekly Creative Challenge  

Set by leading writer for Stage and Screen James Graham (Quiz ITV, Brexit: The Uncivil War C4, The Crown Netflix) at last week's live-streamed members' Q&A.

Write a scene that features two characters, lasts no longer than three of four pages and includes the following:

1. An object of some significance 
2. An anxiety (write a list of 20 things you're worried about and pick one)
3. One character who has something that can't be said
4. The other character has a fear (could be fear of death, could be fear of spiders)
5. Put a 'clock' or 'distraction' on the scene e.g. they're on a train and it's about to leave

Email your scripts to info@nyt.org.uk by Friday 22nd May with JAMES GRAHAM in the title and we'll ask James to feedback on some of the best

Join National Youth Theatre and award-winning director and theater-maker, Matt Harrison for a masterclass on making the most of your monologue. Matt will give participants a tool kit of simple and effective exercises you can use to break down a speech, empowering you as actors to make clear, bold and playful choices.

Sunday Sessions: Mixtape 
Sunday 5 April - 5-6pm 

Public Livestream 

The first of a series of online Sunday Sessions - creative evening livestreams, curated and hosted by NYT Members featuring original work by NYT Members. Mixtape will celebrate the musical talent of NYT members who create original music, song-writing, rap, and spoken word. It will be a relaxed and welcoming evening of new talent.

Open to all abilities, this workshop with give you the chance to empty your busy mind, discover some new approaches to crafting poetry and generate some new material for the page and stage. Bring a notepad and pen, or type on your laptop if you prefer. Full details on the Members' Board.
