A Masterclass for 11-14 year-olds from the National Youth Theatre
25th February 2017 - 1st April (6 consecutive Saturdays, 3 hours each)
This brand new course will offer young people age 11-14 a chance to engage with the NYT and develop their early interests in performance before auditioning to be a member of the company. Participants will explore the NYT’s approach to ensemble theatre making during six consecutive workshops with a leading NYT director. The final week will be open to friends and family to see their work.
This course will run at The Philbeach Hall, 51 Philbeach Gardens, Earl's Court, London, England, SW5 9EB for six consecutive Saturdays.

AM (10am-1pm) or PM (2pm - 5pm) classes
Each term follows the below rough structure, but is lead by a different experienced NYT Associate Artists so young people can attend more than one term and will learn different skills.
Get to know each other through games, trust exercises, and start to work as an ensemble – exploring how to listen, move, play, create fast-changing atmospheres as a company
Story-telling and devising through movement and images
Characters and chorus – creating bold characters physically, creating groups of people / animals that share the same physical energy and attitude.
Visiting tutor – music / dance
Making “Something out of Nothing” – creating our show!
