Lockdown Promotion
Open to: NYT Members & Hub Subscribers
Do you have a monologue or a self-tape that you want to share? Or a portfolio full of costume designs that you want to display? Whether you’re an actor, a backstage technician, or simply a creator in any way, the first part of the day is ‘Lockdown Promotion’ - a celebration of artistry in all its forms. The selected projects will be featured on NYT's Instagram Stories and Twitter on 7 April. Anyone is also welcome to share their projects using #NYTLockdownPromotion throughout the day.
Lockdown Creation
Open to: NYT Members
We're are holding three workshops led by a few of our Creative Leaders that centre on the idea of ‘Lockdown Creation’ - a celebration of the evolution of creation.
- Workshop 1 (10am - 11:30am): Led by Devan Dallas and Myca Millmore, this workshop involves participants collaborating with one another in groups to create a piece of work that responds to a theme.
- Workshop 2 (1:00pm - 2:15pm): Led by Naila Barrett, this workshop is about channeling your creative flow through activities such as free writing.
- Workshop 3 (7:30pm - 9pm): Led by Rishi Soneji and Rosalind Watt, this workshop will explore how to create work through the use of mindfulness.

Start your day with a creative workshop on the theme of JOY! This workshop is open to all ages, abilities and experiences, and booking will run on a first-come-first-served basis. We will split you into two groups: one for creative writing, and one for moving.

COLLABORATE - 2pm-6pm

COLLABORATE Workshop - 2-4pm
Looking for your tribe? Got ideas, but haven’t found the right people to collaborate with? Don’t have a specific idea yet, but still want to pour fuel on the creative fire?
Come along to our COLLABORATE workshop! You'll connect with creatives of different disciplines with a view to taking these new connections and ideas further, post-workshop. After an introductory session, you’ll be split into two groups – those interested in writing and dramaturgy, and those who want to learn more about backstage and design work. Both groups will then come back together to share what they’ve come up with.

COLLABORATE Q+A - 5-6pm
Open to: Everyone aged 11-26
Open to all, this Q&A will give you the chance to ask an emerging theatre company about successful collaboration, how to get started and how to create your own opportunities.
The City Lighthouse Theatre Company are currently working on their play ‘Concha’, which is being performed virtually for the Oregon Fringe Festival. They were established in mid-2020 with the aim to exemplify the voices of our generation, focusing on putting people of colour and LGBTQ+ stories on stage. The panel will be composed of the writer/performer Carlos Fernandez, the director Manisha Sondhi, the designer Kathrine Strawn, and the stage manager Anna Townley.

The dawn of a creative revolution is upon us.
Over the course of the day long session, we will be coming together to explore Freedom through the lens of art and culture. By exploring a range of games, workshops, exercises and creative provocations, our work throughout the day will culminate into a unique, original showcase of online theatre, which illuminates the life-affirming power of our artistic expression.
Come along to meet likeminded individuals across disciplines, to create work that feels authentic to you, to inspire and to be inspired.

Can’t make it? Want to get even more involved? As part of our Creative Leaders takeover, we want to showcase original art made by NYT members in our new virtual space: The FREEDOM Gallery.
If you’re an NYT Member or Hub Subscriber, and have a piece of art you’ve made that shows the world what freedom means to you, we want to see it! Maybe that’s a collage made from old magazines? Maybe you love photography? Or do you find it easiest to express yourself through spoken word? You can use anything you feel like in any form you see fit. Show us what freedom looks like to you!
