14th April: Making a Short Film led by Jason Hogan
This session offers a practical introduction to the world of filmmaking, exploring the different roles involved in bringing a film to life and the collaborative process behind directing.
28th April: Finding your voice led by Ameera Conrad
A practical voice workshop to develop clarity, power, and confidence in participants’ unique voice skills. Teaching how to use breath and support to develop positive behaviors around voice practice for the stage.
12th May: Meisner Technique; applying it to Character Exploration led by James Barnes
Following the typical structure of Meisner’s Repetition Exercise, the participants will explore each stage objectively before utilizing said structure to explore various characters and character choices. This will equip the participants with a somewhat easy and organic way to navigate complex characters and trust their instincts.
26th May: Audition Prep led by Charles Furness
How to nail your in-person auditions - from when you are given the sides in an email through to leaving the audition room. Covering - script breakdown, research, what casting directors are looking for, creating the most interesting audition, and making bold choices that will get you seen above the rest. Bad habits and how to have a healthy mindset before and after auditions.
9th June: Improv for actors led by Anna Spearpoint
A workshop using comedy improvisation games, exercises and techniques to learn key characterisation and storytelling skills and to unlock confidence when working with unknowns. Open to those with any amount of experience with improv... Especially those who find it a terrifying prospect.
23rd June: Devising with text and movement led by Josie Daxter
A physical, playful and collaborative workshop for actors and makers to explore how movement and text can be layered together in devised work. The workshop will involve improvisation games and exercises to generate both movement and text and devising tasks to see how they can be layered together to create dynamic storytelling.
7th July: Introduction to Playwriting led by Benjamin Salmon
A workshop with Associate Playwright on National Theatre's New Views scheme for young / emerging playwrights this session will be an introductory session into playwriting and finding your voice as a writer.
This session will use simple, playful techniques, to empower actors to find their voice and freedom whilst performing classical text. Participants will leave the session with a practical toolkit for approaching classical text, with the confidence to get themselves out of their heads and into their bodies. Joel's credits include: Titus Andronicus (RSC/Hampstead), Romeo and Juliet (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), and Measure for Measure (Shakespeare's Globe).
