Aimed at those auditioning for National Youth Theatre or for drama schools, in this course you will work with a National Theatre director and learn how to feel confident in an audition setting. During the sessions you will work on a monologue, directed by the course facilitator, as well as learning some crucial techniques for representing yourself well in an audition context.

You will learn:

  • How to select the right monologue/audition piece to best showcase yourself
  • How to approach performing a monologue/audition piece, including work on text, character and staging
  • How to prepare for the ‘chat’ side of an audition
  • How to deal with nerves
  • What to expect from auditions across various contexts

The course will finish with a mock audition in front of a special guest panelist.

Is this Course for me?

This course is aimed at those 18-30 who wish to audition specifically for the National Youth Theatre or drama schools. No previous acting experience is necessary

I have access needs, can I still take part?

What Should I Bring?

Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a packed lunch and water bottle (NYT is walking distance to many corner shops, cafes & local supermarkets to buy food from), a notepad and pen
