Audition Bootcamp 18+

During this 5-day masterclass, you will workshop an audition piece and learn some crucial techniques to successfully represent yourself in an audition context. You will learn:
- How to select the right monologue/audition piece to best showcase yourself.
- How to approach performing a monologue/audition piece, including work on text, character and staging.
- How to prepare for the ‘chat’ side of an audition.
- How to deal with nerves.
- What to expect from auditions across various contexts.
This course is perfect for young people who are thinking about auditioning for drama schools or the National Youth Theatre, who want to learn how to feel confident in an audition setting.

This course is available for anyone aged 14-17 whether they are active members of NYT or new to the organisation
Am I eligible for a free place?

I have access needs, can I still take part?
Our courses are adaptable for participants with disability and neurodivergence where required. All participants are asked to provide Access Requirements before attending to make sure their needs are met. For further information, please contact auditionandcourses@nyt.org.uk
What should I bring?
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, notepad, a pen and a snack (NYT is next to many shops, cafes and a Sainsburys)

Andrew is a director working across Stage and Screen. For Stage, he directs new work with companies including English Touring Theatre, Headlong, the National Theatre and the Royal Welsh College Of Music & Drama with writers including Brad Birch, Chris Bush, Elinor Cook, Tim Crouch, James Fritz, Rob Hayes, Yolanda Mercy, Owen Sheers, Ross Willis and Alexandra Wood.
He is Artistic Director of award-winning theatre company, Squint, a graduate of the Birkbeck Theatre Directing MFA, an Associate of the National Youth Theatre and formerly Resident Assistant Director at Leeds Playhouse.
He is an Acting Coach for major film and television projects including Masters Of The Air (Apple TV), Jerk (BBC) and My Father’s Shadow (Element Pictures) and privately with Anthony Boyle, Mary Beth Barone, Edward Bluemel and Ava Max.
My name is Emily Casey, I’m from London and I’m an actor, writer, music artist and director. I teach comedy at a part-time drama school where I’ve written and directed comedy scenes in their winter and summer showcases. I am also currently a part of NYT Rep 2024!
