Led by a top industry professional, Acting for Screen is a five-day masterclass in which participants will:
- Develop knowledge and experience in the casting process for TV, Film and commercials.
- Deepen their understanding of screen technique and performing in front of a camera.
- Understand how to present themselves in an audition situation and get the most out of the process.
- Experience a mock screen test.
- Perform a scene from a film or TV and receive personal feedback.
This masterclass is aimed at those who want to expand upon their screen acting skill set and start to be challenged as a burgeoning professional in the industry.

Can I Take Part
This course is available for anyone aged 18-30 whether they are active members of NYT or new to the organisation
Am I eligible for a free place?
At The National Youth Theatre we never want cost to be a barrier, that's why we offer limited free spaces on each course. For a free place, please fill out the short application form here
I have access needs, can I still take part?
Our courses are adaptable for participants with disability and neurodivergence where required. All participants are asked to provide Access Requirements before attending to make sure their needs are met. For further information, please contact auditionandcourses@nyt.org.uk
What should i bring?
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, notepad, a pen and a snack (NYT is next to many shops, cafes and a Sainsburys)

Ben Hecking
Kate Kennedy is a British actress, writer, and director. She is best known for her portrayal as Kai-125 in the Paramount+ series Halo and has also done voice acting for video games such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla, in addition to other roles in film and television.
Thuliswa Magwaza is a Zimbabwean British Actor and Singer. She has completed training with the National Youth Theatre’s REP Company and participated in the 2023 season including the offie nominated revival of 'Gone Too Far' at Stratford East and has since played 'Lady Macbeth' in Macbeth at The Watermill which has recently won Best Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards 2023. Before this, she completed a 1st Class degree in English Literature, specialising in Classical Theatre at The University of Adelaide in South Australia. Short film credits include ‘Illustrating Sam Newton’, directed by Lily Drummond in South Australia, selected for the Oscar qualifying Slamdance Festival in 2022. As a singer, she has provided back up vocals for Sophie- Ellie Bextor’s Greatest Hits Album ‘The Song Diaries’. Theatre credits include: ‘Hero’ in Much Ado About Nothing at The Duke of York’s Theatre, ‘The Girl’ Imaginary Natural Beings, Camden Fringe 2023, and Ensemble in The White Card at Soho Theatre.
