Home for storytellers finalist in two major awards
We’re pleased that our redeveloped home for young storytellers has been selected as a 2025 Civic Trust Awards: Regional Finalist and a 2025 Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design: Regional Finalist.
These awards recognise how buildings allow all to use them with dignity and equality, putting people at the heart of design. Given the access focus of our redevelopment, it was fitting to hear the news yesterday on International Day of Disabled People. You can support our work to make theatre accessible for all young people and have your donation doubled by giving before 10 December at www.nyt.org.uk/biggive
Established in 2011, The Selwyn Goldsmith Awards celebrate places that are responsive, flexible, welcoming, easy to use and occupy, allowing all to use with dignity and equality. To be considered for the SGAs, projects should have gone beyond the building regulations as a minimum, using best practice guidance, putting people at the heart of the project, and showing exemplar design.
We’re very grateful to the redevelopment team, led by architects DSDHA and our supporters who made this work possible, including: the Mayor of London's Good Growth Fund, The Kirby Laing Foundation, The London Marathon Charitable Trust, The Kirby Laing Foundation, The Christina Smith Foundation, City Bridge Trust, Arts Council England, Islington Council and the Green Hall Foundation.
