Introducing the Audition Choice Awards

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Audition Choice Award for 2025! For the first time ever, we will select one talented young person from each of our 14 UK audition locations to receive a FREE course of study with the National Youth Theatre (NYT), along with free accommodation if the course is residential. Additionally, two recipients will be chosen from those who audition online and a school will be chosen who stand out from the crowd and will receive a free schools workshop.

This award is part of our biggest ever round of free auditions across the UK, designed to make our courses and opportunities accessible to young people from all walks of life. In 2025, we’ll be holding auditions in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Glasgow, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Perth, Poole, and Sheffield, with Welsh locations to be confirmed. Our auditions are open to young people aged 14-25, as well as disabled and learning disabled young people up to the age of 30.
Our auditions are designed to be welcoming and relaxed, giving you the chance to get a feel for what it’s like to be part of the NYT community. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions, meet like-minded creatives from your city, and explore which of our courses might be the best fit for you.
If you’re unable to attend one of our in-person auditions, don’t worry! You can also submit a digital audition from anywhere in the UK. Simply record a video of yourself performing a monologue and answering a few questions, which can be found on our website. Plus, over 50 schools across the country will be hosting school auditions, giving even more young people the chance to be seen.
Founded in 1956 as the world’s first youth theatre, the National Youth Theatre is a creative home for young storytellers. We’re committed to supporting talent from all backgrounds, and our alumni include global stars like Ed Sheeran, Daniel Craig, Helen Mirren, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The Audition Choice Award is just one of the ways we’re working to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to be part of the NYT community
