In Thicker Than Water university students discover a bag that grants their wishes in Temi Majekodunmi’s dark comic drama full of secrets and friendship. The play was long-listed for the Alfred Fagon: Mustapha Matura Award after being written at Soho Theatre’s Writers Lab and will be staged in a rehearsed reading directed by Trybe House Theatre Artistic Director Phillip J Morris.
Temi Majekodunmi’s debut play, The Life of Olu, ran at Soho Theatre as part of the Soho Rising Festival 2022. Thicker Than Water is his second full play and was long-listed for the Mustapha Matura Playwriting Award. Trybe House Theatre is a company that seeks to actively build resilience and self-wellbeing, primarily with young black men aged 16- 25, using theatre as a supportive outlet. They have been working in partnership with NYT for the last 18 months, sharing work in the NYT Workshop Theatre, running regular workshops and connecting its members with NYT courses and opportunities.
