This Week at NYT | Auditions kick off, and To Kill A Mockingbird

Welcome to 2019, and your first weekly news update of the year. We’ve got a lot to recap from the festive break so here goes…


Auditions and Interviews 

This weekend sees our first auditions of the year kick off in Birmingham and London, before heading all across the UK for the next three months. If you know someone aged 14-25 who loves to perform, or 16-25 who is interested in learning all about theatre from behind the scenes – get them involved


REP Company – To Kill A Mockingbird

Next week, our 2018 REP Company’s final production heads to Lyric Hammersmith. To Kill A Mockingbird, dramatised by Christopher Sergel, will be directed by our 2018 Bryan Forbes Assistant Director Meghan Doyle. We’re all sold out, but keep your eyes peeled for returns 


Stepping Up 

This week our brand new Stepping Up course began, as we welcomed and enrolled our cohort of students onto the free accredited Level 2 course. 


Playing Up Term 2 

We also welcomed back our Playing Up Company this week for the second term of their nine-month free accredited Playing Up course. The started the term in style with a R&D with director Lakesha Arie-Angelo and writer Yolanda Mercy for their end of course show 


Auditions Access Fund 

This month sees our Auditions Access Fund free workshops and auditions begin. Throughout Jan-April, we’re heading to select locations across the UK where drama provision has been lost, thanks to the Auditions Access Fund supported by Hugh Bonneville. If you’re 14-25, live locally to the below areas and want to get involved – apply here

February Masterclasses 

Our six-day masterclasses are back this February in London and Norwich. Choose from Audition Technique, Acting for Screen, Writing and Directing, and Performing Shakespeare. Open to members and non-members aged 15-25.

NYT Patron Zawe Ashton is to star in Betrayal as part of the Pinter season opposite Tom Hiddleston

It was announced this week that Zawe will also star in Netflix’s Velvet Buzzsaw alongside Jake Gyllenhaal  

Jade Anouka to star in The Phlebotomist, which returns to the Hampstead, this time in the main space 

Dean Nolan, who was on BBC Radio Cornwall talking about NYT auditions this week, is starring in fellow alumnus David Walliams' Billionaire Boy, which will tour the country this spring

Alumna Alex Kingston is to star in Joshua Harmon's Admissions, running ⁦at Trafalgar Studios‬⁩ from February 28

REP Member Isabel Adomokah Young is performing in Dear Elizabeth at The Gate next month
