In a digital response to The Host, the NYT has commissioned a 360° video experience featuring real accounts of refugees now living in the UK, which is available to view at The Yard Theatre between 22 – 26 August.
Created by NYT alumni Ben Carlin and Sean Hollands (2016 Bryan Forbes Director), founders of Epiphany VR, the short video experience aims to further examine the themes tackled by the play, as well as explore the responses and opinions of refugees based on their real life experiences of the UK. Set up to be experienced by two individuals simultaneously, the film is based around a series of filmed interviews with refugees which have neither been scripted or changed.
It hopes to offer insight into their thoughts and opinions concerning the society and country which they now find themselves in. The film ends with a question, which both viewers are then invited to discuss with one another. Above all the 360° film intends to promote further discussion and contemplation about the subject.
