Personal Development – Community Cohesion – Global Citizenship

The NYT Volunteers Programme gives young people aged 16-25 from around the UK the opportunity to participate in a modular programme of recruitment, training and volunteering activities in the creative arts. The programme builds on the continuing success of our Education , Training and Community work and is designed to create meaningful arts-based volunteering opportunities for young people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.

The programme aims to be flexible enough to allow young people to shape and determine their own levels of involvement and progression. It also aims to attract both members and non-members to engage across the full spectrum of NYT activities. A broad palette of opportunities ranging from short-term volunteering to longer term national and international opportunities and full-time work placements give young people the chance to develop their skills and experience whilst making a positive and creative contribution to their communities.

Opportunities to volunteer with NYT include:
  • Taking part in projects as a local community volunteer
  • Helping to facilitate our national auditions work as an NYT Ambassador
  • Supporting our peer learning work as a Peer Mentor or an Actor-Educator
  • Developing innovative new work as part of an NYT Action Group
  • Speaking up as an NYT Advocate on behalf of the wider membership

NYT volunteers contribute to the governance and management of the Volunteers Programme through our recently established advisory board the Now You’re Talking Committee.

NYT is a registered NOCN centre and we are currently exploring the range of modules available to us in order to select the most appropriate accredited progression routes to offer our young volunteers.

For more information about current volunteering opportunities and how to apply please visit the National Volunteering Database at www.do-it.org or the NYT Members Area at www.nyt.org.uk

If you would like to register a general interest in volunteering at NYT or just want to know more please contact Peter, our Volunteers Programme Manager, at peter.collins@nyt.org.uk or call us at the NYT office on 0207 2813863.
